Work begins as Pulse is appointed as Bolsover District Council’s strategic leisure development partner

Following a highly successful tender win in March 2015, which saw Pulse become Suffolk Coastal District Council’s strategic leisure development partner, Pulse have now been named as Bolsover District Councils’ strategic leisure development partner as a direct result.

The original contract with Suffolk Coastal District Council incorporated the potential redevelopment, equip and operational support of a number of other facilities within four additional local authorities’ portfolios including Bolsover District Council who were named participants on the tender.

The contract – which has a value of £4m – has now officially begun and sees Pulse working in partnership with Bolsover District Council to redevelop, design and enhance the facilities at Clowne Sports Centre. The new facility is set to open its doors to the public in January 2017.

Pulse will be using its 35 years’ experience and expertise to build and design a brand new extension which will consist of a new 25m swimming pool, a children’s pool and flume ride, a children’s play kingdom and brand new changing rooms. The extension will be a total of 1961sqm and will also include a brand new café for the community to enjoy.

As well as building the new extension, Pulse will be refurbishing the existing facilities, extending the fitness suite to 100 stations. The gym will be equipped with brand Pulse equipment and a bespoke functional rig. The site will receive two brand new dance studios and a spin studio kitted out with 20 Keizer bikes. Pulse will also be redesigning the space to incorporate brand new management offices.

Chris Johnson, Manager Director for Pulse, said:

“We are delighted to be working with Bolsover District Council as their strategic leisure development partner, this is a real testament to our previous work.

“We are confident that by working in partnership, we will greatly improve existing offering and ensure that the centre offers a fantastic range of facilities for the whole community to enjoy.”
